Tianyuan Fan got her Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Degree in School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Peking University. She began to work at the same place in 1991 and engaged in the teaching, research and development of pharmaceutics. She was a visiting scholar in Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1996 and Hoshi University (Japan) in 2002.

Dr. Fan gives several courses for undergraduates and graduates, including P harmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Drug Delivery System and Advanced Pharmacokinetics . She has written five textbooks as co-author.She won the Teaching Excellence Awards of Peking University Health Science Center in 1998, 2012 and 2017, the Special Award of the First Experimental Teaching Reform of National Pharmacy Colleges in 2016 and the Teaching Excellence Awards of Peking University in 2017.

Dr. Fan established drug delivery system in translational medicine laboratory, focusing on interdisciplinary research of drug delivery system in medicine for prevention, diagnosis and therapy of disease. Her research interests included embolic drug delivery system for interventional medicine, tumor targeting MRI contrast agents for radiation medicine and 3D printing drug delivery system for personal therapy, etc. She has published over 50 papers and 24 meeting abstracts, and applied 15 patents (13 licensed). Two embolic particles she developed were approved by SFDA in 2006 and have been used in near a thousand of hospitals to treat several hundred thousands of patients in China. She won the Prize of Progress in Scientific Technology of Hangzhou in 2006 and Invention Patent Award of Peking University Health Science Center for five consecutive years from 2012 to 2016.
